Ann Arbor Sail and Power Squadron has signed an agreement with the Boat Owners Association of the United States (Boat U.S.) that allows AASPS members to join or renew memberships in the nation's largest association for recreational boaters, with full membership benefits at a 50% discount.

Those benefits include members-only discounts on equipment purchases; discounts on fuel, overnight slips, or repairs at more than 500 marinas nationwide; on-the-water towing; and low-cost boat and automobile insurance.

More information about joining the United States Power Squadrons® can be found here.

In January, 2000, the United States Power Squadrons signed a memorandum of understanding with the Commodore of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and thereby became an active partner in a national program to perform vessel safety checks.

The goal of this partnership program, which has evolved from the Marine Courtesy Examination program conducted by the Auxiliary for the past fifty-three years, is to support, expand, and enhance the program and to significantly increase the number of vessels inspected each year.

This program is more than just another example of civic service by USPS® and USCGAux. In addition to increased safety for the recreational boating public, members benefit through participation by learning a great deal about Federal and State boating requirements. Vessel examiners also develop practical as well as "textbook" knowledge about all sorts of recreational boats. Additionally, they take pride in their involvement in a program that enhances the safety for the recreational boating public.
